According to a post by Eric Lempel, Director of Playstation Network Operations, at blog.us.playstation.com, the newest PS3 firmware update (2.42) is up and available for download.. or at least so it was meant to be. There have been coming in reports about many PS3 owners having trouble downloading the firmware update while others have not experienced any problems at all.
You might remember that when Trophy support was added to the Playstation 3 with the firmware update 2.40, after downloading it, people reported bricked Playstation 3 systems which forced Sony to remove the 2.40 version from download only hours after releasing it. A few days later firmware update 2.41 was released that did not cause any problems. What is up with the firmware!?
Naughty Dog’s critically acclaimed Third-Person Action Adventure game Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune is going to receive a patch that will add trophies. IGN.com conducted an interview with Arne Meyer, senior manager of marketing communication at Naughty Dog, about the upcoming patch which you can read here.
Free Radical’s Playsation 3 exclusive first person shooter Haze has been delayed by 7 days. The game originally scheduled for release on the 20th November will know hit store shelves on the 27th November.
This is yet another delay for a Playstation 3 title. The former timed exclusive Unreal Tournament III was also delayed recently and is now scheduled to come out Q1 2008. Obviously PS3 owners are angered by these delays but the anger gets directed towards Sony because people forget that the developer is responsible for the release dates not Sony.
Hopefully these are the last delays for this year’s upcoming PS3 games but I wouldn’t bet on it.
